Surrey Youth Voice Conference

Today we held the first ever Surrey Youth Voice Conference at Sheerwater Youth Centre. The aim of the event was to increase collaboration and share good practice between youth councils in Surrey.

We aim to hold another conference in the future to allow even more young people to benefit and promote youth voice in Surrey.

We had Youth Councillors from Woking Youth Council, Mole Valley Youth Voice, Reigate and Banstead Youth Council, Surrey Heath Youth Council and Surrey Youth Cabinet in attendance.

At this conference we had many talks and workshops, including “Representing Young People”, “It Is Safe to Become Someone New” from Calvin Kara and “How to Structure a Project”.

We all had a great time and enjoyed sharing how we work as different youth voice forums!

Emily from Woking Youth Council said “it was a great opportunity to meet new people and it was really fun.”

“It was fantastic to be able to gain an insight into how other youth councils in the area are run and discuss ideas,” said Becca from Mole Valley Youth Voice and Surrey Youth Cabinet.
